As a Senior Director of Engineering at Venmo, you will be leading the Experiences & Orchestration teams, directly reporting to the CTO of Venmo Engineering. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of finance through innovation and technology.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Lead a global team of engineers, setting a clear vision and strategy for the engineering teams.
- Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Engineering Excellence
- Oversee all aspects of engineering, ensuring the delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and secure financial products.
- Drive technical excellence, advocating for best practices in software development and architecture.
Collaboration and Partnership
- Work closely with business, product, and design teams to align engineering initiatives with company goals.
- Be a key player in strategic decision-making, ensuring technical systems meet the evolving demands of our customers and stay ahead of the competition.
Operational and Financial Oversight
- Manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively, delivering projects on schedule and within cost constraints.
- Ensure the organizational, execution, and financial health of the engineering teams.
Customer Focus
- Always frame solutions in terms of solving specific customer needs.
- Understand the market and what “good looks like” across existing solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles within software engineering, preferably in the FinTech sector.
- Strong technical background in developing solutions across distributed systems, with advanced experience in mobile and web.
- Inspirational leadership and management skills.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and resources for large engineering teams.
- Outstanding communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
