Overview
Join Mercury, a leading fintech company, as a Senior Software Engineer on our Backend Developer User Experience (DUX) team. You will be instrumental in shaping the developer ecosystem, enhancing the productivity and satisfaction of our engineering team through innovative tools and methodologies.
Role Responsibilities
- Instrument the software development life cycle to measure and improve engineer speed, quality, and enjoyment.
- Use a product-centric approach to develop tools and methodologies that boost backend engineer effectiveness.
- Contribute to and create patches for popular open source projects like GHC, GHCi, Persistent, and Nixpkgs.
- Develop unique solutions and tooling for the world’s largest Haskell codebase, often open sourcing these tools.
- Collaborate closely with product teams to test our tooling and gather firsthand user feedback.
Ideal Candidate
- 3+ years of experience in backend development.
- Passion for enabling other engineers and improving team performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous problem domains.
- Excellent communication skills for technical plans and strategic alignment.
- Experience with Haskell or other purely functional languages is highly preferred.
Bonus Points
- Experience on platform teams supporting large numbers of engineers.
- Familiarity with Nix, NixOs, Nix Packages.
- Successful contributions to open source projects.
