Job Description
Join Farther, a leading technology-centric wealth management firm, as a Senior TypeScript Backend Engineer. We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with a strong background in TypeScript and finance to join our Product, Design, and Engineering team. Our team is backed by top-tier VCs and has experienced rapid growth, managing over $3 billion in assets in under four years.
Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Ownership: Take charge of multiple domains and associated products, from user interface to data layer.
- Feature Development: Contribute to new features and product improvements for our web application using React, TypeScript, Bun, and CockroachDB.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to shape and influence new features.
- Backend Development: Develop backends for features, including domain modeling, data layer design, HTTP endpoint implementation, and handling asynchronous messaging.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Write automated tests to ensure the highest product quality.
- Architecture Design: Design high-level architecture that is flexible and not over-engineered.
- Documentation: Draft and review specification documents for new features.
Skills and Experience
- TypeScript Expertise: Firm grasp of TypeScript language, types, and nuances, including ES6+ syntax, React hooks, and functional components.
- Functional Programming: Ability to think in a functional way, using FP from frontend to backend.
- Architecture Design: Ability to design composable architecture at multiple abstraction levels.
- Debugging: Rock solid at working with third-party dependencies/services and debugging issues.
- Experience: 7+ years of building TypeScript-based apps in production.
- Financial Domain Expertise: Previous experience in the financial sector is preferred.
