Role Overview
Cardless is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend systems to join our dynamic team in San Francisco. This role involves tackling complex problems in the realm of digital-first and consumer-friendly credit card platforms. You will be integral in integrating with third-party services, solving distributed systems challenges, and balancing needs such as security, reliability, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services and systems.
- Integrate with card networks, payment processors, and credit bureaus.
- Address challenges related to eventual consistency and idempotent workflows.
- Utilize a microservice architecture with technologies like Java, gRPC, and AWS tools.
- Contribute to observability with Datadog, feature management with LaunchDarkly, and security with VeryGoodSecurity.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in designing and scaling backend services in production environments.
- Proficiency in Java, gRPC, and AWS technologies.
- Ability to lead projects, plan work, and collaborate across functions.
- Passion for building quality systems and achieving real-world impact.
