Overview
Zoox is at the forefront of mobility-as-a-service, developing a fully autonomous, purpose-built fleet that is designed for AI to drive and humans to enjoy. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in C++ and simulation frameworks to join our team in Seattle. This role is crucial for the development and validation of our autonomous driving software and hardware through sophisticated simulation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Architect and support foundational simulation software and frameworks: You will be responsible for building the architecture on which our simulation relies, from the fundamental concepts of the simulated world to how it interacts with the entire software and hardware stack.
- Interface management: Own the interface between simulation and the rest of the self-driving software stack.
- Performance improvement: Focus on enhancing simulation performance both directly and by developing tools to assist others.
- System development: Build systems that enable users to self-serve or get help, thus accelerating their work.
- Reproducibility: Ensure the reproducibility of simulation results.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 4 years of industry experience in C++ programming.
- Experience in system design, particularly software in computer clusters.
- Knowledge in performance optimization from single-threaded applications to whole clusters.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in the automotive, robotics, or video game industry.
- Skills in data science and machine learning.
- Proficiency in mathematics, including trigonometry and linear algebra.
Compensation
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $155,000 to $220,000, depending on experience and location. Additionally, compensation includes Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, and a potential sign-on bonus. A comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, long-term care insurance, both long-term and short-term disability insurance, life insurance, and various types of paid and unpaid leave.
