Job Description
The People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Central Science Team at Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer (SDE) with expertise in machine learning lifecycle management, model training & validation, and model debugging & analysis tools. This role involves working with an interdisciplinary team that combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that improve Amazon and the lives of its employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with economists, academic scholars, machine learning scientists, and other SDEs to develop, test, and deploy services that implement a wide range of econometric and machine learning models.
- Utilize sophisticated distributed systems, process and visualize Big Data, and apply advanced statistical techniques.
- Innovate and rapidly prototype scientific models and software solutions to accelerate informed, accurate, and reliable decision-making backed by science and data.
- Transform and model data, and research all aspects of HR, including workforce planning, recruiting, employee engagement, retention, development, employee benefits, and compensation.
About The Team
Our team builds distributed, scalable, and highly available systems that make machine learning (ML) and econometrics models run faster. We own products ranging from data lakes to tools for ML and analytics to web applications and software solutions integrated with other Amazon systems. Robust and user-friendly software solutions, and data security and privacy are our top concerns.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Experience with Python, R, or related coding for model development and model optimization.
- 1+ years of non-internship experience in machine learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following areas: econometrics, statistical modeling, machine learning, data mining.
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
Location
This position is based in Sunnyvale, California, but we are also open to candidates in Seattle.
