Join Our 2025 Software Engineering Internship Program
Holland America Line is excited to offer a 10-week paid summer internship opportunity for aspiring software engineers. This remote internship is designed to provide exposure and insight into professional careers within the leisure travel and cruise industry. As an intern, you will work on departmental projects and participate in professional development and enrichment activities.
Essential Functions
- Coding, Testing, and Debugging: Work under the mentorship of experienced developers to code, test, and debug software applications.
- Legacy Code Migration: Migrate legacy code to a modern technology stack using best practices and standards.
- Analysis and Reporting: Conduct deep dive analysis and ad hoc reporting.
- Web Functionality Development: Understand existing legacy web functionality and develop it using ReactJS and RestAPI, including unit testing and test-driven development.
- Collaboration with QA and DevOps: Partner with the QA team for integrated automated or manual testing and with DevOps to deploy code using Jenkins CI/CD pipeline.
- Agile Development: Participate in agile development processes and team meetings.
Program Dates
The internship runs for 10 weeks from June 16th to August 25th, 2025.
Eligibility
- Candidates must be enrolled in a four-year accredited undergraduate program (at least a rising junior) or in a graduate/Ph.D. program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Candidates must not be graduating seniors in the summer of 2025.
Compensation
- Undergraduate: $25.00/hr
- Graduate: $35.00/hr
- Ph.D.: $45.00/hr
Requirements
- Ability to work independently, remotely, and self-manage.
- Well-organized and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and managers.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#.
- Experience with UI technologies like HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, JSON, and RESTful Web Services.
- Strong coding skills with the ability to produce high-quality, reusable, and repeatable code.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, programming, and communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with ReactJS is a plus.
