About Diffuse Bio
At Diffuse Bio, we are pioneering the use of generative AI for protein therapeutics. Our team has been at the forefront of AI protein design breakthroughs for the past six years, including the first experimental validation of AI-generated proteins and diffusion models for protein structure and sequence. We have developed the first entirely AI-driven computational nanobody design platform and are currently testing designs in the lab.
Our mission is to create AI systems capable of designing protein therapeutics for the most challenging and high-value targets. We believe AI has the potential to revolutionize drug discovery and expand the range of treatable diseases.
The Role
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will:
- Design, build, and iterate on research infrastructure in close collaboration with research engineers.
- Develop tools to automate and maintain computing clusters and data parsing pipelines.
- Design and build software and APIs that enable internal and external access to our AI systems.
This internship requires a minimum commitment of four months (three months for exceptional candidates) and is based in the Bay Area, although remote work is an option for exceptional candidates.
Ideal Background
- Adaptability and openness to work on multiple problem areas, such as data processing pipelines and front-end software development.
- A fast learner with a broad understanding of infrastructure, front-end, databases, CI, etc.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in Computer Science or a related field (not a hard requirement for exceptional candidates).
- Strong track record in programming, demonstrated through industry experience, internships, competitions, or open-source projects.
- Proficient in Python and C++.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as GCP.
- Data science or engineering experience, such as ML engineering or data infrastructure engineering internships.
- Located in the Bay Area (remote work is an option for exceptional candidates).
Pluses
- Experience with Kubernetes or other cluster management platforms.
- Front-end experience and proficiency in HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, etc.
