About Diffuse Bio
At Diffuse Bio, we are pioneering the use of generative AI for protein therapeutics. Our team has been at the forefront of AI protein design for the past six years, achieving significant breakthroughs such as the first experimental validation of AI-generated proteins and the development of diffusion models for protein structure and sequence. We have created the first entirely AI-driven computational nanobody design platform, with designs currently being tested in the lab.
Our mission is to develop AI systems capable of designing protein therapeutics for the most challenging and high-value targets, with the potential to revolutionize drug discovery and expand the range of treatable diseases.
The Role
As an ML Research Intern, you will:
- Extend and scale Diffuse’s in-house deep generative modeling toolkit for applications in molecular design.
- Execute deep learning experiments to enhance model performance or develop new functionalities, such as loop engineering and structure prediction of protein-protein complexes.
- Take ownership of a scoped-out project focused on advancing internal methods.
This position is based in the Bay Area, with remote work options available for exceptional candidates. The internship requires a minimum commitment of four months, although three months may be considered for outstanding candidates.
Ideal Background
- A self-starter who enjoys tackling tough scientific problems and is results-driven.
- Capable of thinking critically, methodically, and creatively about experiments.
- Proficient in Python and experienced with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- A track record of impressive work in industry or academia centered on ML and deep learning.
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, bioengineering, computational biology, or a related field (not a strict requirement for exceptional candidates).
- Industry experience in a data science or engineering role is a plus.
Additional Pluses
- Knowledge of physics, math, molecular biology, chemistry, etc.
- Previous work on ML applied to structural biology or molecular design problems.
- A strong publication record.
