Job Description
Join Square's Public Web team as a Staff Engineer, where you'll be at the forefront of transforming our marketing website, a critical touchpoint for millions of Square sellers. As part of a full-stack engineering team, you'll be responsible for the architecture, infrastructure, and site reliability of Square’s public web presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and Support: Develop and maintain Square’s Public Web, ensuring a seamless experience for users exploring Square’s offerings.
- Optimize Architecture: Identify and implement improvements in application architecture, testing, and build pipelines.
- Enhance User Experience: Continuously seek ways to optimize and improve the seller experience.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with product and design teams to redefine information architecture and build audience-focused journeys.
- Platform Re-architecture: Participate in the transition to a microservices architecture to enhance resiliency, performance, and developer experience.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor engineers across the organization, fostering a culture of high-quality and high-velocity work.
Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks, particularly Svelte and React.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in web markup languages (HTML5, CSS3), backend technologies (NodeJS, ExpressJS, Ruby), and front-end build tools (Webpack, ESbuild, Vite).
- Communication: Strong communication skills, capable of presenting and demoing work to large audiences.
- Collaboration: Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross-disciplinary teams.
- CI and Cloud Infrastructure: Proficiency with CI pipelines and cloud infrastructure, mainly AWS and Cloudflare.

Salary Range
- Zone A: €198,000 - €297,000
- Zone B: €188,100 - €282,100
- Zone C: €178,200 - €267,400
- Zone D: €168,300 - €252,500
