About This Role
Join BlackRock's Global Markets team as an Associate Quantitative Researcher. This role is part of the ETF & Index Investments team within Research, Data, and Analytics (RDnA). You will be responsible for delivering active research insights, models, and systematic solutions around indexing. The successful candidate will provide insights and drive business impact through quantitative trading models and strategies, collaborating with Technology, Portfolio Management, and Trading teams to drive implementation and generate revenue.
Responsibilities
- Study indexing events and methodologies.
- Deliver data insights and prediction analytics around indexing.
- Back-test trading/investment hypotheses through quantitative and event-driven investment processes.
- Gather, maintain, and analyze economic and financial data in support of global ETF and Index Research.
- Conduct market structure, market behavior, and portfolio implementation research in both equity and fixed income markets.
- Build relationships with other teams supporting the investment data and research process.
- Partner with multiple teams across the organization in the execution of joint research work.
Qualifications
- Formal training in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline).
- Experience in utilizing quantitative skills in an applied research environment.
- Master’s or PhD degree is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the use of computer technology in financial research.
- Demonstrated statistical package programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL) and Linux literacy.
- Understanding of financial markets, including drivers of return, risk control, and portfolio construction techniques.
- Signal processing experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
Compensation
For California, the salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy, and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department, and individual performance.
