Job Overview
As the Director of Software Engineering at The Walt Disney Company, you will lead a dynamic team within the Growth and Commerce Platform organization. This role is pivotal in setting technical and architectural directions and influencing the roadmap for your group and the wider organization. You will work closely with peers across Product, Project Management, and Engineering to ensure seamless integration and delivery of services.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Set direction on the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of stateful microservices and lambdas in a multi-region cloud environment.
- Mentorship: Mentor engineering managers and senior-level contributors to enhance their technical skills and professional growth.
- Collaboration: Work with various stakeholders including Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions.
- Team Growth: Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to structure and grow your team effectively within the Identity Engineering organization.
- Financial Management: Collaborate with Finance to manage budgets and demonstrate the success of investments through data.
- Agile Practices: Promote and support Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban, leading regular ceremonies like stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
Qualifications
- Experience: 12+ years in software engineering of high-scale consumer-facing products.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills with a history of driving results and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of decision making and problem solving.
- Innovation: Demonstrated success in innovative product development and team growth.
