Job Description
As a Distributed Machine Learning Researcher at Gensyn, you will be at the forefront of developing and training highly distributed models over uniquely decentralized and heterogeneous infrastructure. This role involves researching novel model architectures, designing, building, testing, and iterating over new ways of building neural networks with a focus on achieving byzantine tolerance in a trustless compute setting.
Responsibilities
- Train Highly Distributed Models: Work on training models over decentralized infrastructure rather than traditional GPU clusters.
- Research Novel Model Architectures: Design, build, test, and iterate on new neural network architectures.
- Publish & Collaborate: Write research papers targeting top-tier AI conferences such as AAAI, ICML, IJCAI, and NIPS, and collaborate with experts from universities and research institutes.
- Engineering Support: Collaborate with the engineering team on broader ML issues, such as reproducible training.
- Follow Best Practices: Engage in open-source development with a focus on designing, testing, and documenting code.
- Write & Engage: Contribute to technical reports and papers describing the system and engage with the community.
Minimum Requirements
- Research Background: Strong research background with publications at major machine learning conferences or equivalent industrial experience.
- Machine Learning & Distributed Systems: Strong background in these areas.
- Distributed Model Training: Hands-on experience required.
- Self-Motivation & Communication: Highly self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Applied Research Environment: Comfortable working in an environment with high autonomy and unpredictable timelines.
Nice to Haves
- Communication Backend Experience: Experience with NCCL, GLOO, and MPI.
- Large Language Models (LLMs): Experience in training LLMs.
