Overview
GitHub, a global leader in software development, is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join the GitHub Next team. This role offers a unique blend of startup-level agency and the resources of a larger company. The GitHub Next team has been responsible for pioneering products like Copilot and the new GitHub Code Search. As a Senior Research Engineer, you will work closely with a small group of experienced researchers to explore and prototype the future of software development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations and build prototypes to explore future software development technologies.
- Work with a variety of technology stacks to build and ship software.
- Collaborate with team members to scope projects, ideate, and deliver prototypes that inform GitHub's leadership and roadmap.
Qualifications
- 9+ years of experience in software development across various technology stacks.
- Experience in creating rapid prototypes and working in environments of ambiguity.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong skills in frontend technologies like Typescript and React, and backend technologies including server-side environments and devops.
- Experience with machine learning, LLMs, and integrating intelligence into products.
- Familiarity with open-source software and communities.
