About the Role
Join Smartly as a Lead Engineer in our Bobby Tables team, where you will be pivotal in transforming our Reporting product. This role involves leading the technical direction and architecture of our reporting and integration solutions, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and delivering high-quality software.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team.
- Lead the architecture design and technical implementation of new and existing solutions.
- Mentor team members on software development practices.
- Write maintainable, robust, and well-tested code, primarily backend (TypeScript, Node.js & Ruby) but occasionally frontend (TypeScript, React) as well.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including product management, infrastructure, and support functions.

What We’re Looking For
- Several years of experience developing distributed systems in a modern service-oriented architecture.
- Professional backend experience with TypeScript and Node.js, and a good understanding of frontend development.
- Solid knowledge of databases and ability to operate complex SQL queries.
- Willingness to work with Ruby, with Ruby skills considered an advantage.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.
- Demonstrated success in leading and driving technical initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and upper management.
