Expedia Group is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist Intern for our 2025 Global Summer Internship Program. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading travel technology company and gain hands-on experience in machine learning and data science.
About the Role
As a Machine Learning Scientist Intern, you will be part of a dynamic team that is reimagining the way people search for travel. You will have the opportunity to work on business-critical projects, develop your skills through tailored learning and training, and participate in intern-specific events to build knowledge and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prototype new machine learning models and techniques to enhance travel search capabilities.
- Apply statistical methods such as confidence intervals and A/B testing to make data-driven decisions.
- Utilize natural language processing models for keyword analysis and multi-objective ranking problems.
- Communicate complex analytical topics to various stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Conduct feature engineering and modify existing models to meet business needs.
- Gain domain expertise in fraud and risk detection to improve transaction security.
- Model complex online travel data to optimize business metrics and enhance traveler experience.
Who You Are
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering, with a focus on areas like Machine Learning or Data Science.
- Available to commit to the full program dates: May 19-July 25, 2025, or June 23-August 29, 2025.
- Proficient in Python and/or Scala, and SQL.
- Have no more than 2 years of professional experience.
- Willing to relocate to Seattle if outside commuting distance.
