Role Overview
As a Principal Software Engineer at Hiive, you will lead a dynamic engineering team, focusing on the development and optimization of our fintech platform. This role involves hands-on development and strategic leadership, ensuring that our software architecture is robust and scalable. You will work closely with product and engineering leadership to deliver core features and maintain high standards of software quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams of engineers to deliver high-quality software releases.
- Hands-on development using Typescript, React, and Elixir.
- Own the software architecture across your team’s functional area.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure the team produces quality code.
- Advocate for best practices in software development and continually improve internal processes.
- Assist in the hiring and mentoring of new team members.
- Work directly with founders on product development and company growth.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams.
- Expertise in frontend development with React and Typescript or backend development with Elixir and Phoenix.
- Experience with relational databases, Typescript, GraphQL, and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with deploying and configuring AWS services and Kubernetes using Terraform.
Preferred Experience
- Building GraphQL APIs with Apollo Client and Absinthe.
- Experience with Vercel and Next.js.
- Understanding of Postgres database design and optimization.
