The Role: Senior Backend Engineer (Go)
Join our team as a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and run the core components of our AI messaging router backbone. This critical infrastructure supports handling millions of messages using complex message routing, intent detection, and maintaining stateful interactions with GenAI and other microservices in our infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain key modules such as timing mechanisms, intent detection, memory, and routing as part of our distributed Go service.
- Manage the full lifecycle of these services, from testing for robustness to deploying in a high-load, production environment.
- Ensure maintainability, scalability, and reliability of the service.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including founders to integrate AI capabilities, such as LLMs and other microservices.
About You
- Proven experience in developing and operating large-scale backend systems.
- Strong familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience with designing and maintaining large-scale messaging and/or event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of Generative AI principles, inference techniques, and prompt management (preferred, but not required).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- High level of agency and self-motivation, and a proven track record of developing complex systems quickly and independently.
- Enthusiasm for the dynamic pace and impact of startup environments, with a strong commitment to achieving technical excellence and innovation.
Location
We have offices located in Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA, and Brooklyn, NY. While we offer fully remote and hybrid employment opportunities, our team strongly desires candidates to be available to work in the Bay Area or within the Pacific Time Zone (PST).
Pay Equity
In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the base salary range for this role is between $150,000-$225,000. When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.
