About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at parcelLab, you will be pivotal in building systems that enhance the post-purchase experience for over 550 brands globally. You will work within our Engineering department, focusing on backend development using Python and Django, among other technologies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Engineering Leadership and Product Owners to develop and maintain our product portfolio.
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend applications using Python, Django, REST/GraphQL APIs, and various databases.
- Implement modern development processes and best practices including CI/CD, code quality checks, test automation, and infrastructure as code.
- Actively contribute to code reviews and provide mentorship to junior team members.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and drive product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of professional experience in software development, focusing on product engineering and highly scalable systems.
- Proficiency in Python, Django or FastAPI, and comparable stacks.
- Strong experience with modern technologies such as REST/GraphQL APIs, SQL, MongoDB, AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to a product-focused mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
