Internxt is on a mission to create a safer and more private internet that respects user privacy. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and help us continue to innovate and improve our suite of secure services.
Your Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a key player in our backend team, responsible for:
- Implementing new features and improving existing ones in our backend systems.
- Reviewing code from your peers, contributing to a culture of learning and improvement.
- Working on our web, mobile, and desktop applications to enhance security and reliability.
- Maintaining and updating configuration management systems.
- Collaborating closely with the engineering team to solve complex problems.
- Being fully involved in the complete product development cycle, including making pull requests.
- Analyzing, reviewing, and clarifying the design and architecture of development tools, and implementing missing tools.
- Utilizing various deployment strategies, including AWS, GCP, raw deployments, and container images.

What We Are Looking For
- Passion for JavaScript and Node.js/Express.
- Knowledge of IP addressing, network design, and structure.
- Experience with multiple platforms, including physical servers, virtual servers, Docker containers, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Ability to analyze and monitor bottlenecks and key metrics to optimize software and system performance.
- Expertise in Testing, CI/CD, good documentation, and best practices.
- Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases, especially MongoDB.
- Ability to manage systems remotely with Linux and fluency in shell scripting.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
Ideal Attributes
- Understanding of the HTTP protocol (future use of HTTP/2).
- Basic configuration knowledge of internet services on Linux, such as nginx.
