Senior Backend Engineer – Process and Workflow

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Process and Workflow team at Forto, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining the operations’ documentation tools. Your work will involve handling document uploads, management, and generation from system data, as well as AI data extraction for system updates. You will empower the Operations team to manage documents effectively, reducing reliance on traditional communication methods like faxes and emails.

Key Responsibilities

Automation and Efficiency: Drive automation to eliminate manual tasks, allowing team members to focus on more meaningful work.
Software Development: Own the full cycle of designing, building, and maintaining scalable and available software systems. Continuously improve existing systems, including refactoring critical components.
Innovation: Explore and implement cutting-edge software design patterns to solve complex problems in a dynamic domain.
Leadership and Mentorship: Lead engineering-wide initiatives, interact with various teams and stakeholders, and mentor other engineers.

What You Bring

Technical Skills: Proficiency in NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and message queuing systems or Kubernetes.
Database Experience: Experience with multiple databases, both relational and non-relational, and the ability to choose the right paradigm for different use cases.
Cloud Experience: Familiarity with major cloud providers is a plus.
Software Craftsmanship: A professional attitude towards software craftsmanship, with a strong understanding of testing and the importance of TDD.
Problem Solving: Hands-on experience in building distributed backend applications to address challenges like data consistency, latency, and availability.
Resilience and Learning: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong desire to learn and improve.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
