About the Role
Agoda is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for our Back End Engineering team based in Bangkok. This role is pivotal in leading the development and operation of our core systems which include inventory and pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner data, booking systems, payments, and more. These systems are mission-critical and undergo frequent updates with multiple releases per day, requiring robust CI/CD and testing protocols to ensure seamless operation.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: You will be hands-on, writing and reviewing code, and providing expert-level coaching to engineers. Your deep understanding of engineering principles will guide the architectural decisions and system designs.
- Team Management: Lead a team of engineers, fostering an environment of creativity and innovation. You will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and developing your team, ensuring they meet their potential and deliver high-quality work.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with other department heads to align engineering strategies with business objectives. You will set KPIs, make key decisions, and drive projects to completion.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in programming languages such as Java, Scala, or C#.
- Proven track record in systems architecture, particularly with scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Experience in a leadership role with direct reports in an agile environment.
- Strong understanding of DevOps culture and practices, including CI/CD.
