About the Role
As a Lead Software Engineer for Back End in the FinTech sector at Agoda, you will be at the forefront of transforming travel through financial technology. This role is based in Bangkok, and we provide relocation assistance to ensure a smooth transition for you and your family.
Responsibilities
- Architect and Develop: Design and develop robust backend systems and scalable data pipelines. Ensure systems are stable and scalable to meet the dynamic demands of the financial landscape.
- Full Lifecycle Ownership: Own the full lifecycle of products from conception to deployment, including business requirements analysis, technology selection, coding, testing, and monitoring.
- Collaborate and Mentor: Work closely with other teams and mentor junior members to foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Operational Excellence: Focus on operational excellence, using metrics to drive decisions and maintain high standards.
What You Will Need
- Expertise in Backend Technologies: Proficient in Java, Kotlin, Scala, or C#, with experience in big data technologies like Hadoop and real-time processing frameworks like Apache Spark.
- Experience with Data Systems: Advanced knowledge of SQL and data architecture is crucial for managing complex data systems.
- Agile Methodology: Experience with Scrum or other agile development methodologies is essential.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead projects and initiatives, demonstrating a capacity for strategic thinking and problem solving.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration.
It’s Great If You Have
- Experience in a modern FinTech or Payments organization, with domain knowledge in financial reconciliation, financial reporting, tax, and payout methods like virtual credit cards or customer payments.
- Hands-on experience with technologies for data processing, ETLs, and queueing systems like Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with core engineering infrastructure tools like GitLab for source control and Kubernetes for orchestration.
