Airbnb is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Community Support (CS) team. This global business unit provides support to millions of guests and hosts worldwide. Within CS, the Core Machine Learning team is responsible for driving CSxAI (Customer Support x Artificial Intelligence) initiatives by adopting Generative AI to enable an intelligent, scalable, and exceptional service experience.

Role Overview

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing Conversational AI solutions and other cutting-edge machine learning techniques to shape the future of Airbnb's Community Support experience. You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and operations teams to leverage engineering innovations and simplify business requirements into scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, productionize, and operate machine learning models, including Large-Language-Models, for both batch and real-time use cases.
• Collaborate with machine learning infrastructure engineering teams to build reusable and scalable AI solutions for Airbnb products.
• Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to build and continuously improve machine learning models for Airbnb's product, business, and operational use cases.
• Leverage third-party and in-house machine learning tools and infrastructure to develop high-performing machine learning systems.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, including product managers, operations, and data scientists, to identify opportunities for business impact and drive engineering decisions.

Required Expertise

• 5+ years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning, including an MS or PhD in relevant fields.
• Strong programming skills in Python and Java.
• Deep understanding of machine learning best practices, algorithms, and domains such as natural language processing and personalization.
• Experience with technologies like Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, and data warehouses like Hive.
• Industry experience in building end-to-end machine learning infrastructure and productionizing machine learning models.
• Familiarity with test-driven development, A/B testing, and incremental delivery and deployment.

Location

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $185,000—$221,000 USD
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
