Senior Machine Learning Engineer I - GenAI

Join Our GenAI Foundation Team

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer I at Booking.com, you will be part of the GenAI Foundation team within the Machine Learning Platform. This newly formed team is central to powering Booking.com's machine learning and GenAI applications. You will be responsible for building components of the GenAI lifecycle that will be utilized across various use-cases within the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative ML models, algorithms, and engineering approaches to impact our business.
• Execute applied research plans to understand, apply, test, and generalize technologies into reusable frameworks.
• Build reliable and robust ML and AI solutions to address business problems, considering production environment constraints.
• Develop production-grade machine learning code, from models to features and pipelines, ensuring scalability, real-time monitoring, and retraining.
• Write readable and reusable code, applying in-depth knowledge of business area tools and product needs.
• Monitor product health, performance, and business impact, taking action when requirements are not met.
• Solve issues using insights from various disciplines and adapt quickly to different environments.
• Continuously evolve your craft by staying updated with industry and academic best practices.
• Actively contribute to the Machine Learning community at Booking.com through training, exploration of new technologies, and mentoring colleagues.

What You’ll Bring

• 6+ years of relevant work experience in applying Machine Learning Engineering to business problems in a commercial environment.
• Strong coding and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python, and a strong command of SQL. Knowledge of Java is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of big data retrieval and processing tools.
• Experience running Machine Learning systems in production, with knowledge of generating predictions for ML frameworks with high throughput.
• Experience with data-driven product development, including analytics and A/B testing.
• Experience working in a cloud environment is a plus.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and understand complex business problems.
• BSc or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
