About Us

Our Advertising Data BENE team, consisting of 15 colleagues (10 in development and 5 in business profiles), is responsible for advertising data, AI/MLE, and generative AI solutions within the digital advertising domain. You will have daily interactions with Product & Innovation teams, Developers, and your teammates. You will be part of the Advertising Data BENE team, which is a part of the central Digital Sales Development department. Based in our Amsterdam or Vilvoorde office, you will find yourself in a dynamic environment that is constantly evolving.

What You Will Do

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of ML models within the digital advertising domain. You will also build and maintain data pipelines and contribute to our web applications.

Example Projects:

• DPG Datalab: A self-service application for advertisers to create audiences for targeted advertising, similar to Facebook Business Manager.
• Predictive Models: Models that predict the most suitable advertisement banner/creative for an online visitor.
• Conversion Prediction: Predictive models for identifying the most likely converters/clickers of advertising campaigns.
• Demographic Prediction: Models for predicting the age and gender of DPG Media online visitors based on consumed content.
• Profile Enrichments: Adding profile enrichments in batch and real-time flows in a big data environment.
• Data Pipelines & Dashboards: For quality monitoring and alerting.

Responsibilities:

• Strengthen our scrum team, which includes a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and 8 developers.
• Participate in standups, refinements, retrospectives, and demos (2-week cycles).
• Adopt a "you build it, you run it" mentality (development & devops, infra-as-code, CICD, etc.).
• Analyze requirements, experiment with different models, justify your choices based on quality parameters, implement and present results to the dev & business team.
• Contribute to our underlying data stack & data pipelines (Python, PySpark, ElasticSearch, Terraform, Airflow, etc.).
• Collaborate with Data & ML engineers to expand our ML Ops platform.
• Integrate our services with other DPG teams that use our data services.
• Take ownership & accountability for certain models, jobs & applications.
• Spend 20% of your time working on features and models, and 80% building the data stack, web applications & incremental improvements.

Ideal Candidate

• A solid software engineer with ideally several years of experience as an ML Engineer.
• At least 1 year of experience with AWS Stack, Python, (Py)Spark, Terraform, and Airflow.
• Hands-on experience with ML Ops & ML frameworks (e.g., SKlearn) for training, monitoring, deploying features & models.
• Experience with Java & Spring is a plus.
• Thorough yet pragmatic with an eye for quality & testing.
• Not afraid to navigate a complex business domain with many stakeholders to understand requirements & tackle complex problems.
• Depending on your location, you will work in Amsterdam (NL) or Vilvoorde (BE). You will travel across the border once a month for team meetings.
• Proficiency in the Dutch language is a must.
