About the Team
Our team consists of 11 dedicated software engineers specializing in networking software. We are a self-organizing group that influences product requirements and decisions. As part of Akamai's Cloud Compute team, we empower customers to secure and isolate their resources and workloads on the Akamai Connected Cloud. We achieve this by designing and implementing networking products such as Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) functionality, Cloud Firewall, and VLAN.
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Akamai's cloud offerings. This position requires a blend of system design, programming, and debugging skills, along with a strong commitment to code quality and project management. You will be responsible for:
- Building cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the cloud.
- Developing core software components primarily in Go, with the flexibility to work in other languages as needed.
- Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high-quality code in close collaboration with your team.
- Collaborating with local peers and coordinating with global teams to build new features or address user-reported bugs.
What We Are Looking For
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, or Go.
- Strong skills in writing, testing, and understanding complex computer software.
- Experience in technical design, product specification reviews, and project and backlog planning.
