Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure

About the Role

Orkes is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on cloud infrastructure to join our engineering team. This role is pivotal in leading and implementing the best DevOps and site reliability practices within our organization. You will leverage your extensive experience to simplify the deployment of Orkes on various infrastructures, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Teams: Work closely with engineering and customer-focused roles to understand infrastructure requirements and address customer pain points.
Vision and Roadmap Development: Establish a vision and roadmap for software infrastructure focusing on security, scalability, and operational costs.
Operational Excellence: Foster a culture of good operational hygiene and continuous improvement.
Automation: Identify opportunities to automate workflows and collaborate with software engineering to build a robust software architecture.
Customer Interaction: Engage with customers to resolve infrastructure concerns and promote a secure-by-design culture.

Required Skills and Experience

Cloud Expertise: Hands-on knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Infrastructure Leadership: Experience in architecting and leading best practices in operating large-scale systems.
Coding and IaC: At least 5 years of coding experience (Go, Java, or similar) and 3+ years with an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technology such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
Observability Tools: Minimum 2+ years with observability stacks like Grafana, Prometheus, or DataDog.
Communication Skills: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Compensation

The base salary for this role ranges from $180,000 to $230,000 USD annually, depending on skills, experience, and market data.
