Job Overview
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer III to join our dynamic Web team in Darmstadt. This role is pivotal in developing high-quality, user-centric web applications for our global digital bookselling platform. As a senior member of the team, you will lead projects and mentor junior engineers, ensuring best practices in software development are followed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web applications using JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
- Lead the design and implementation of new features, focusing on high performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and ensure that solutions meet customer needs.
- Implement robust testing strategies, including unit, integration, and UI tests, to maintain high software quality.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Monitor application performance post-deployment and optimize as needed.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in JavaScript and React development.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of testing frameworks like Jest and WebDriver is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
