Senior Software Engineer, Product Foundation

About The Role

The Product Foundation team at Sentry is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. This team is divided into two main pods: Alerts & Notification, and Ecosystem. The Alerts & Notifications pod is responsible for the core alerting functionality in Sentry, while the Ecosystem pod manages connectors to other SaaS tools to send these alerts. Our focus is on embedding Sentry tightly with our users’ workflows and providing actionable insights on issues in their code so they can fix them efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Build and Maintain Features: Develop and maintain features and integrations with other SaaS services using React (TypeScript) and Django (Python) in our open-source codebase.
• High-Impact Projects: Work on projects that touch the entire stack, including understanding the event ingestion pipeline, delving into search and storage systems, and surfacing data to our customers on both backend and frontend codebases.
• Code Quality: Write tests for your code to maintain high code quality and raise the engineering standard for Sentry.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Set up monitoring and alerting to ensure application health and uptime.
• Mentorship: Review code and mentor less-experienced engineers.
• Documentation: Write user-facing documentation to support new features with help from our technical writing staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: 6+ years of experience building user-facing web applications and APIs.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Technical Skills: Strong experience with React/TypeScript and Django/Python or similar frameworks and languages.
