Senior Software Engineering Consultant - Commerce & Engagement Technology

About The Position

Columbia Sportswear Company is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Consultant to join our Commerce & Engagement Technology team in Portland, Oregon. As a key member of our Digital Technology (CDT) group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting software solutions that enhance our customer interface and service across our global brands.

Key Responsibilities

• Development & Design: Lead the design, development, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and support of platforms or applications. Ensure application performance, uptime, and scalability while maintaining high standards of code quality.
• Quality & Performance: Establish and manage quality standards, leveraging automation to create efficiency and reliability in software delivery.
• Observability: Utilize best practices and technologies to monitor and observe the health, availability, and performance of software in production.
• Technical Advancement: Employ expert-level DevOps practices to advance the technical foundation of solutions, ensuring they are modern, simple, and secure.
• Innovation: Explore new technologies and methods of software delivery to advance team and business goals.
• Product Backlog & Roadmap Input: Contribute to the team's backlog and partner with teammates to refine the product backlog, adding detail and organization to delivery ideas.
• Agile Delivery: Participate in agile ceremonies and help drive collaboration within the team through practices such as pair programming.
• Architecture & Design: Partner with Architecture to understand, help define, and adopt enterprise best practices, frameworks, standards, and technology goals.
• Mentoring/Team Development: Mentor individuals and teams on technical delivery and architectural shifts, building technical skills in teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience engineering high-volume, highly available applications in AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
• Experience with modern cloud architecture patterns and mobile application development.
• Deep knowledge of commerce business processes and experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum preferred).
• Technical skills include AWS (Lambdas, EventBridge, S3), Azure (Service Bus, FunctionApps, Logic Apps), Node.js (JavaScript), .NET (C#), automation, and observability.
• Experience leading engineering with both on-shore and off-shore teams.
