About the Role
Nike is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our platform team that manages a sophisticated GitHub environment used by Nike engineering teams. This role involves creating automation for administration and governance of GitHub, collaborating with engineering, operations, and security teams to enhance delivery processes and resolve issues.
Responsibilities
- Administer the GitHub environment for thousands of developers.
- Design and build automation tools to enhance developer experience and implement security controls.
- Utilize GitHub's API for task automation and system integrations.
- Develop and enforce best practices for securing code and maintaining privacy in Nike repositories.
- Provide training and support to Nike engineers, ensuring clear documentation is available.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the day-to-day management of GitHub.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience as a software programmer, with 2+ years in a senior role.
- Proficiency in Python and one other high-level programming language (Java, Node, Golang, Groovy).
- Strong background in Git, version control, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with Linux, Bash scripting, and network fundamentals.
- Familiarity with observability tools like Splunk, New Relic, or SignalFx.
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of computer security, privacy, user identity, permissions, and SSO.
- Experience with Docker and containerization.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, IAM, etc.).
This is a 6-month contract position based in Beaverton, OR, offering a hybrid work model (onsite Mon-Thurs).
