The Navigation SDK team at Mapbox builds frameworks and applications that power navigation everywhere. Our customers include automotive, logistics, and consumer apps on Android, iOS, and Linux platforms. Our developers create top-ranking apps and navigation experiences, and we are constantly innovating in areas like Augmented Reality, AI-powered experiences, and autonomous driving.
What You'll Do
As a Software Development Engineer on the Navigation SDK team, you will:
- Be responsible for feature development in SDK and application layers.
- Create out-of-the-box solutions utilizing multiple Mapbox SDKs: Navigation, Maps, and Search, to get our customers’ apps up and running at virtually no cost.
- Craft expressive and easy to use APIs for developers using our SDKs.
- Define the technical and functional design of the product in close collaboration with other Mapbox teams and our customers.
- Dive deep into the underlying cross-platform implementations that power our frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with other teams across Mapbox to understand and build what is needed to enable delightful navigation experiences.
What We Believe Are Important Traits For This Role
- Demonstrated history of shipping complex Android applications or SDKs.
- Experience with native technologies, such as Kotlin and Java.
- Experience with testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Focus on usability and great user experience.
- Desire to build frameworks and developer tools.
- Desire to learn and to teach.
- Passion to earn and keep customer trust.
- Readiness to go deep in the Android stack and navigate AOSP code when needed.
- Experience building SDKs in any language is a plus.
- Familiarity with or a desire to learn more about C++ is a plus.
