About the Role
As a Software Engineer in Trust and Safety at GitHub, you will be pivotal in safeguarding our extensive user community. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain robust tooling solutions aimed at detecting and mitigating various trust and safety issues such as spam, malware, copyright infringement, and other abusive behaviors. This role requires a deep understanding of backend web development and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Write and review code for both front and back-end systems to enhance our abuse moderation capabilities.
- Collaborate with Trust & Safety analysts to identify patterns of abuse and develop strategies to prevent harm.
- Engage with cross-functional teams including Security, Legal, and Platform Health to align on Trust & Safety standards and enforcement.
- Document and maintain the systems and tools you develop, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and efficiency.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in relevant technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Ruby, Rails, Java, Flink, Python, or Go.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
