About the Role
GitHub is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Mobile team. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of mobile development at GitHub, where you will lead a team of talented engineers working on our native Android and iOS applications. These apps are integral to how developers worldwide collaborate on GitHub, and your leadership will help drive their continued success and growth.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Cultivate an empowering environment where team members feel a strong sense of ownership. Ensure that individuals on the team are learning, growing, and advancing in their careers.
- Product Development: Oversee the development and shipping of high-quality software across multiple platforms. Guide the team in building robust features and bug-fixes regularly.
- Communication: Effectively communicate directions and decisions with the team and company. Build alignment with engineering, design, and product leadership.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design, data, engineering, and product management to understand and solve problems. Collaborate with engineers using GitHub, Slack, and Zoom.
Qualifications
Required
- Extensive experience in designing, developing, and shipping high-quality software at scale.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in developing strategic roadmaps for teams.
- Experience working asynchronously on a remote, distributed team.
- Strong communication skills with high-level stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience with Android and/or iOS development.
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails.
- Knowledge of testing, profiling, and debugging practices.
