Job Overview
GitHub is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead and grow our engineering team. This role is pivotal in developing products and services for GitHub’s Customer Success organization, including the GitHub Support portal and Copilot for GitHub Support. You will be responsible for guiding and serving your team, ensuring their productivity and happiness, and improving processes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular 1-1 meetings with team members.
- Plan and support career development.
- Provide guided performance feedback.
- Serve as a coach and mentor.
- Foster a supportive environment for engineers.
- Guide the development team’s vision and best practices.
- Facilitate team decision-making and discussions on engineering topics.
Qualifications
Required
- 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in production software coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
- 1+ year(s) of people management or leadership experience.
- Experience building internal tools and services for customer success or technical support.
Preferred
- 3+ years of experience managing remote engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills.
- Passion for good engineering practices and processes.
- Ability to empathize with a diverse range of global engineers.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is €104,400 - €276,900 per year. Additional benefits include annual bonuses and stock options, based on individual impact and role.
