Staff Full Stack Software Engineer

Job Overview

Agoda is seeking a highly skilled Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Bangkok, Thailand. This role is pivotal in driving major architectural changes and adopting new technologies to push Agoda forward. As a Staff Engineer, you will work closely with individual contributors and senior leadership, playing a key role in hiring, mentoring, and leading technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of Mission-Critical Systems: Maintain and take responsibility for the systems that are crucial to Agoda's operations.
• Hands-On Development: Build high-volume platforms using cutting-edge technologies such as React and GraphQL.
• Mentorship: Mentor and coach other software engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
• Agile Practices: Be a major contributor to our agile and scrum practices, ensuring efficient and effective project delivery.
• Technical Leadership: Design and lead crucial technical projects and initiatives across teams and departments.
• Innovation: Stay on the leading edge of technical know-how, industry trends, and drive technical innovations.

Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years of experience in developing web applications using client-side frameworks such as React, Angular, or VueJS.
• Education: B.S. in Computer Science or a quantitative field; M.S. preferred.
• Technical Skills: Excellent HTML/CSS skills, strong understanding of object-oriented JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Agile and CI/CD: Experience with agile methodologies, A/B testing, feature flags, Continuous Delivery, and Trunk-based Development.
• Communication: Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Language: Proficiency in English.

Preferred Skills

• Architecture: Knowledge in physical architecture at scale, building resilient, highly available solutions.
• Technologies: Experience with NoSQL technologies, queueing systems, containers, Dockerization, and Kubernetes.
• Performance Optimization: Strong experience in client-side performance optimization.
• Coding Practices: Proficiency in modern coding and design practices such as Clean Code, SOLID principles, and TDD.
• Global Experience: Experience working on global projects with distributed data centers and localization.

This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand. Relocation assistance is provided.
