Job Overview
As a Spatial Data Intern - GIS at ENGIE North America, located in Santa Barbara, CA, you will play a crucial role in maintaining key databases, conducting research, and creating new data layers to facilitate project development. You will report to the Business Development Advisor and assist with managing data related to utility-scale renewable energy projects in GIS systems, focusing on ESRI products and Excel. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the renewable development process and hone your mapping and data management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Research Competitor Projects: Gather and input data into our spatial platform.
- Review Potential Locations: Evaluate sites for grid-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects.
- Present Opportunities: Share findings with the greenfield development team.
- Update Spatial Data Layers: Enhance site identification and evaluation processes.
- Manipulate Parcel Data: Map structures based on aerial imagery.
- Collaborate with Teams: Attend meetings and coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Must be at least a junior or senior working toward a graduate or undergraduate degree in environmental science, computer science, or data science, or a closely related field.
- College-level course experience with ArcGIS Pro, ESRI products, and proficiency with Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to think analytically, present ideas professionally, and work in project teams.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
Internship Details
- Duration: August 2024 to December 2024.
- Work Hours: Minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Workplace: Hybrid work policy in the Santa Barbara, CA office.
- Eligibility: Must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester.
Compensation
- Hourly Range: $22.00 - $34.00 USD hourly.
