Duolingo is on a mission to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. As a Data Scientist I, you will play a crucial role in this mission by deriving insights from data to influence product roadmaps and drive business results.

What You’ll Do

Derive Insights: Use data to influence product roadmaps and drive business results.
Advanced Analytics: Apply advanced analytical methods to model user behavior and estimate the impact of potential new features.
Collaboration: Work closely with product and engineering teams to develop and implement solutions.
Experiment Evaluation: Evaluate product experiments to create and improve user experiences.
Dashboard and Reporting: Build dashboards, reports, and forecasts to support fact-based decision making.
Data Quality: Ensure the quality of our tracking and data collection is high and continuously improving.

What We’re Looking For

Educational Background: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, economics, computer science, math, linguistics, computational social science), with expected graduation by Fall 2024 or Spring/Summer 2025. Candidates with 1-2 years since degree completion are also considered.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and statistical methods to analyze behavioral data.
Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Enthusiasm for Learning: A passion for learning and sharing analytical methods to help grow a collaborative Data Science team and data-forward company culture.
Relocation: Ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY.

Exceptional Candidates

Big Data Experience: Experience with "big data" and cloud computing technologies like BigQuery, Snowflake, and/or dbt.
Business Acumen: Ability to articulate business questions and use available data to find answers that translate into product recommendations.
Self-Starter: A desire to learn new techniques and guide others.
