About the Role

As a Back-End Software Engineer at Grammarly, you will be instrumental in developing core components of our product offerings. You will work on building infrastructure and features that enhance the writing experience for millions of users daily. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects and collaborate with various teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Code Development: Start building and deploying code in your first week and contribute to impactful features within your first few months.
• Service Management: Build and support production services with high call rates, ensuring high availability for both consumer and enterprise customers.
• Infrastructure as Code: Learn and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
• Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as Core, Growth, Enterprise, Trust, and Data to deliver exceptional product offerings.
• Engineering Culture: Contribute to a culture that emphasizes documentation, testing, and user experience.
• System Evaluation: Assess current systems and propose scalable solutions for future growth.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to new hires.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 3+ years in back-end development, preferably with Java or other JVM languages.
• Technical Skills: Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including algorithms and data structures.
• Problem Solving: Demonstrates perseverance in tackling complex technical challenges.
• Cloud Experience: Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms like GCP or Azure.
• Production Systems: Experience in building, deploying, and debugging production systems at scale.
• User Focus: A commitment to ensuring high-quality user experiences.
