Senior Backend Java Engineer - Marketing Platform

The Role & The Team

Join us to help drive the development of the ZMS advertisement platform that strives to inspire, engage, and inform Zalando shoppers through unparalleled brand-curated and highly relevant advertising experiences. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will create a best-of-class user experience for our fashion brands advertising on Zalando, helping them bring the best products to our customers. The role is mainly backend-focused but there will be multiple instances where some frontend capabilities will come into play.

What We’d Love You to Do (and Love Doing)

• Build and improve the campaign management tool that lets our fashion brands directly plan, execute, and monitor advertising campaigns on Zalando's advertisement platform.
• Evaluate and implement leading-edge technologies and optimize platform performance in terms of throughput, read-latency, scalability, and reliability.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for projects in a cross-functional team and iterate quickly during the product development cycle.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering peers.
• Share your knowledge with your colleagues and help them grow their technical skills.

We'd Love to Meet You If

• You have 7+ years of experience in backend development with Java and/or Scala, proficiency in designing and developing APIs and handling high-volume data.
• You have solid knowledge of operational excellence and cloud-oriented infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.).
• You have experience in web application development.
• You have a passion for working in frontend development using React.
• Data engineering knowledge is a plus.
