Full-Stack Engineer, Core Product Team

About the Role

As a Full-Stack Engineer on the Core Product Team at Substack, you will be at the forefront of developing our core product platform. This role involves working on everything from frontend UI and testing to APIs, low-level services, and database operations. You will collaborate closely with designers, product thinkers, and directly with customers to build new product offerings and tools across the platform.

Responsibilities

Develop the core Substack product for readers and writers with the support of the engineering team.
Engage in a dynamic organization with needs across the board, jumping into any area of the product, learning quickly, and adding value.
Grow and learn engineering best practices with close mentorship and collaboration from more experienced engineers.
Contribute to the entire product process in collaboration with designers, writers, support staff, and others, from product concept and research to implementation and deployment.
Work directly with customers to solve their problems, participating in customer support to build empathy and help build better products.

Technologies We Use

JavaScript, especially Node/Express and React
Postgres

Requirements

3+ years of non-internship professional front-end web software development using TypeScript and React.js.
A degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
Independent and autonomous work style, with the ability to own your work and be a leader.
Pride in building elegant and delightful product experiences.
Enjoy collaboration with a diverse group of thinkers while bringing your own unique experience and background to the team.
