About the Role

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Lead Frontend React Developer to join our Consumer Digital Innovation team. This role is pivotal in implementing our vision of a patient-centric web platform. You will lead the development of user interfaces for our web applications, utilizing React.js for the front-end, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for content management, and RESTful APIs for dynamic applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the front-end development of dynamic user interfaces for web applications on Cedars-Sinai.org.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, and Back-end teams to translate requirements and wireframes into responsive, interactive web applications.
• Design, develop, and support modern web applications using cutting-edge client-side technologies and industry best practices.
• Develop custom web component architecture and templates within a headless content management system to deliver dynamic content presentation.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Implement and maintain best practices for front-end development, including code reviews, performance optimization, and documentation.
• Create component/subsystem documentation and produce design and technical specifications as needed.
• Translate customer requirements, recommend system solutions, and formulate detailed specifications from which programs are written.
• Provide enhancements to primary and supporting websites, web applications, and infrastructures.
• Liaison with end users, research groups, and other business support areas.
• Work with QA teams to ensure the quality and reliability of website performance.
• Facilitate design and technical meetings and provide technical documentation to internal business and design teams.
• Provide leadership to the team in the form of mentoring, training, guidance with daily task assignments, and serving as a subject matter expert on most applications.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in front-end development, particularly within the React.js and AEM ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience developing front-end applications for large-scale, customer-facing web applications/sites with high volume and high-reliability requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience with headless content management integrating React.js.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and related web technologies, including client-side libraries/frameworks React.js and Next.js.
  • Deep understanding of web standards pertaining to responsive web design and atomic/modular design principles for creating modern user interfaces.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and asynchronous workflow for dynamic page rendering.
  • Strong proficiency in efficiently handling state management through the lifecycles of an application.
  • Web accessibility using WCAG, Section 508, and WAI-ARIA standards.
  • Experience with cross-platform, cross-device, and cross-browser testing.
  • Experience with UI Frameworks, the ability to develop quickly, experience with RAD/Agile methods.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and code branching/merging strategies.
  • Experience with front-end build tools and package managers (e.g., Webpack, npm).
  • Security mindfulness in development practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience leading development teams and mentoring junior developers.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is a plus.

• Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
