Job Description
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Bellevue, Washington. In this role, you will be responsible for conceiving, developing, prototyping, and deploying modular data-collection systems at scale. These systems will be installed in a variety of environments across the Amazon network and need to be modular and pluggable to support multiple sensors and configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems for mounting cameras, optics, sensors, wiring, computer systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Engage with a diverse range of customers, from executives to developers and warehouse operations staff.
- Work in a fast-paced environment where delivery time for new products and features is typically measured in months.
- Collaborate with machine learning scientists, fulfillment associates, labeling teams, field engineering and maintenance personnel, and various customers across Amazon worldwide.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with prototyping and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
- Familiarity with industrial camera systems and other types of industrial sensing and controls.
- Strong interest and ability to learn customer requirements in the data collection space.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop software for experimental prototyping purposes.
- Ability to design, acquire, and prototype mechanical systems and components to support sensor data collection.
