Principal Backend / Core Engineer

Vendia is seeking a highly skilled Principal Backend / Core Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining our multi-cloud, distributed data platform. You will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, availability, latency, and fault tolerance of our systems, which are critical for our enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Implement Architecture: Develop a cloud-based, fully managed server-side architecture that forms the backbone of Vendia’s real-time distributed data platform.
• Collaborate with Product Teams: Work closely with product managers and design teams to influence the overall vision of Vendia’s offerings, ensuring they meet customer needs for managing large volumes of real-time data.
• Implement Best Practices: Lead the implementation of industry best practices, including automation, CI/CD workflows, testing, quality controls, security, and performance optimization.
• Customer-Facing Functionality: Design, develop, and deliver critical functionality that enables enterprise users to create applications for real-time data sharing and management.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience: 8+ years in software development, particularly in distributed engineering roles with direct operational responsibility.
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in Rust, Python, Go, and C#.
• Cloud Services: Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB) and Serverless AWS Services (e.g., AWS Lambda, API Gateway, AWS Cognito) or equivalent services on Azure and GCP.
• Best Practices: Experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and operational excellence.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Startup Experience: Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced environment, ideally with cloud-based applications and enterprise SaaS offerings.
• Distributed Systems: Experience working on highly available distributed systems and databases.
• Leadership: Ability to recruit, mentor, and scale engineering teams.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: €160,000 - €210,000 annually.
• Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid holidays, and a home office setup stipend.

Location
