Sony AI is seeking passionate and innovative Ph.D. students to join our team as Research Scientist Interns specializing in deep reinforcement learning (deep RL). This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the Game AI field, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of AI researchers and developers.
About the Role
As a Research Intern, you will:
- Conduct research using deep RL techniques within game AI contexts.
- Explore novel algorithms and methodologies to address AI challenges in modern PlayStation games.
- Develop code to support research endeavors, primarily using Python.
- Prepare reports and deliver presentations for diverse audiences within the organization.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team on ambitious demonstration projects.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. with a focus on reinforcement learning or possessing equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting neural networks.
- Enthusiasm for integrating AI solutions into gaming applications.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Information
- Duration: Flexible duration ranging from 3 to 6 months.
- Working Location: Fully remote positions available in North America and Europe. Optional in-person opportunities in Tokyo and Zurich.
- Compensation: The target hourly rate for this internship is $50.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
