About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Rutter, you will be instrumental in building and optimizing our platform to deliver new features and products rapidly and reliably. You will focus on server-side development, including database creation, management, and debugging. Your role will involve building alerting, testing, tooling, and QA processes to simplify the maintenance of external dependencies. You will also work on improving our core systems to enhance our universal API capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize server-side applications and systems.
- Design and manage databases, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
- Debug and resolve complex technical issues.
- Build and maintain alerting, testing, and QA processes.
- Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience in backend services.
- Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and Postgres.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining large distributed systems.
- Experience with API products and managing external dependencies.
- Ability to work effectively with remote teams across different time zones.

Location
This position is based in our New York office, but we are open to candidates from anywhere in the United States. We are a remote-first company with a local office in Lower Manhattan.
Compensation
The total cash compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $230,000, depending on your skill set, experience, and location.
