Job Overview
Snap Inc. is seeking a talented Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Seattle, WA. As a key member of our backend team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating critical and scalable services that support our core products. This role requires a deep understanding of backend services, distributed systems, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Implement Services: Develop and maintain highly scalable and reliable backend services, including user identity services, friend graph, and core persistence layers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product teams to understand requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver solutions that meet product needs.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality code through testing and debugging, and advocate for best practices in availability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Operational Excellence: Participate in incident management and resolution, ensuring the operational aspects of the system are well understood and maintained.
Required Skills and Experience
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience with backend services or distributed systems, with a track record of operating highly-available systems at scale.
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in Java, Python, and experience with NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis.
- Cloud and Infrastructure: Experience with Kubernetes, Google Cloud, or AWS services.
- Collaboration and Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational Background: BS/BA degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of software development experience, with a focus on backend development.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $129,000 - $228,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
- Equity: This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
