Join Our Team as a Senior Backend Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our Media Foundation team at Airbnb. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and operating Airbnb’s next-generation Media infrastructure. You will work alongside a diverse team of software engineers to shape the technical vision and deliver solutions that are flexible, efficient, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with product, design, and other engineering teams to execute on product and business strategies. Build novel products and features that delight our users.
- Full Development Cycle: Engage in technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch. Review code and design documents, and provide feedback on product specifications and mockups.
- Continuous Learning: Enhance your technical and non-technical skills continuously.
Your Expertise
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Java and experience with microservice architecture at scale.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across different departments.
- Passion for Quality: A strong focus on efficiency, availability, technical quality, and system quality.
Location
This position is remote-eligible within the United States. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required, as agreed with your manager. You must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $185,000—$221,000 USD per year
- Additional Benefits: This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and Employee Travel Credits.
