Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend development at Standard AI, you will be instrumental in setting up and expanding our micro-services architecture. You will build or rebuild data models and establish integrations with various services ranging from client APIs to machine learning services. Collaborating closely with teams across machine learning, application, infrastructure, and other backend areas, you will deploy scalable and resilient systems that meet our evolving product requirements. Your role is crucial in creating new ways to manage system complexity, ensuring a streamlined, frictionless experience for our customers.

What You'll Do

Design and implement services and APIs supporting both internal and external products.
Ensure our code is scalable, maintainable, and reliable.
Partner with other teams to iterate quickly on experimental systems that solve real user problems.
Proactively find and fix performance bottlenecks in our services.
Mentor junior engineers and help establish best practices for cloud-based microservices.

Who You Are

You have at least 4 years of backend development experience with object-oriented languages such as Python, Go, Java, etc.
You have built cloud-based microservices and are an expert at event-based architecture.
You have experience building and scaling MVPs.
You enjoy solving complex and ambiguous problems efficiently - sometimes by writing code, but also by knowing when not to write code.
You take pleasure in helping other developers become better through code review, design discussions, and more.
